When the dress code for the 2022 Met Gala calls for Gilded Glamour, expect a star-studded red carpet overflowing with some of the most exceptional diamond jewelry in the world. A follow-up to last year’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” theme, the 2022 soirée—hosted by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and benefiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art—returned to its traditional first Monday in May date for the first time since 2019, and further confirmed that when it comes to glamour, no look is complete without natural diamonds.
Both red carpet veterans and emerging style stars made a statement on the Met’s iconic arrival staircase, and these diamond-centric outfits from celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Maude Apatow and Blake Lively are sure to have everyone talking for years to come.

The Best Diamond Jewelry Looks from the 2022 Met Gala
Billie Eilish
We love when an A-lister is loyal to the theme. Billie Eilish looked like she stepped out of a Gilded Age painting, wearing a custom Gucci corseted gown and jewelry from Fred Leighton. Her look featured an early 20th century diamond swag brooch in platinum, diamond necklaces circa 1900, round diamond pendant earrings from the 1910s and a gaggle of rings from the early 20th century.
Kim Kardashian
In the most iconic move of the night, Kim Kardashian made Met Gala history in the Jean Louis-designed dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to JFK in 1962, a feat only someone as powerful as Kim could pull off. Kim accessorized the dress with Cartier Essential Lines diamond earrings in 18 karat white gold.
Vanessa Hudgens
One of the first to hit the Met Gala’s red carpet was Vanessa Hudgens, who served as a host for Vogue’s live coverage. The actress wore a sheer black Moschino gown with a high neck, long sleeves, and tons of diamonds from Messika including diamond chandelier earrings, ring stacks on both hands and diamond bracelets.
Blake Lively
Met Gala co-chair Blake Lively looked to iconic New York City landmarks for inspiration when it came to designing her outfit. Her Versace dress honored the Empire State Building and the constellation at Grand Central Station, while her Lorraine Schwartz earrings and tiara were inspired by Lady Liberty. The tiara’s seven tiers represented the seven rays on the Statue of Liberty’s crown, which also features 25 windows that Schwartz incorporated into Lively’s tiara with 25 stones. Schwartz described the look as “Nude color diamonds and Paraiba in a custom tiara, made to resemble the Statue of Liberty, and matching nude diamond earrings.”
Kodi Smit-McPhee
Kodi Smit-McPhee’s Cartier diamond tie was one of the biggest men’s diamond jewelry statement pieces of the night.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade iced out their matching Versace ensembles with diamonds from Tiffany and Co. His tennis necklace and her drop diamond earrings are the definition of couple’s jewelry goals.
Maude Apatow
Euphoria star Maude Apatow served Hollywood Noir in a sheer, off-the-shoulder black Miu Miu gown and a serious diamond choker and drop diamond earrings by Cartier.
Simone Ashley
Bridgeton star Simone Ashley kept it simple in a gold and black Moschino outfit, making sure all eyes were on her De Beers Light Rays Collar featuring a 4.22 carat fancy brownish yellow radiant cut diamond in the center and matching earrings.
Austin Butler
The world is eagerly anticipating Austin Butler’s portrayal of “The King of Rock and Roll” in the upcoming biopic, Elvis. But before Butler begins his press run for the film in June, he hit the Met Gala in a black Prada ensemble and diamonds by Cartier. His chic and subtle jewelry look included a diamond leaf brooch, a-line necklace and diamond bands.
Regé-Jean Page
Regé-Jean Page looks dashing in everything he wears, and his blue Armani suit with a custom white gold, diamond and midnight aquamarine brooch by Graziela was no exception.
Eiza González
Glamour comes easy for Eiza González, who stunned in Bulgari diamonds and a white feather and studded ensemble.
Stromae
Are diamond ties having a moment? Because singer Stromae’s diamond tie from Cartier was the second one we saw during the evening, and it’s a trend we’d love to see more of in the future.
Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson
A gorgeous couple requires gorgeous diamonds! Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson made their Met Gala debut in Gucci ensembles and jewelry, fitting since Jodie became the face of Gucci High Jewelry last year. Her playful, burlesque-inspired outfit was topped with beautiful earrings, diamond bangles and rings, while Joshua wore a Gatsby-inspired suit and diamond pinky rings.
Ashley Park
Emily in Paris star Ashley Park played up her hot pink corset and ostrich feather Prabal Gurung outfit with dramatic diamonds from Jacob & Co. The jewelry look included layers of diamond necklaces and colossal diamond earrings that cascaded like a waterfall.
Emma Chamberlain
It was impossible to miss Emma Chamberlain’s Met Gala jewelry, which included a head-turning diamond choker and tiara from Cartier. Her Louis Vuitton white skirt and pale yellow crop top drew all of the attention to the yellow stones in her jaw-dropping necklace, and she finished the look with diamond earrings that were just as stunning.
Kacey Musgraves
Kacey Musgraves can pull off any look, including an ode to Audrey Hepburn in a bejeweled Prada dress and De Beers High Jewelry. We love her in the Motlatse Marvel Necklace and a girl can never go wrong with diamond bracelets over opera gloves.
Michelle Yeoh
Everything Everywhere All at Once leading lady Michelle Yeoh accessorized her off-the-shoulder green Prabal Gurung gown with an ornate Tasaki necklace.
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas coordinated their Louis Vuitton looks for the evening, Sophie in a black gown from the LV archives and Joe in a white jacket and lace top from the brand’s spring/summer 2022 collection. They finished their outfits with Louis Vuitton High Jewelry.
Denée Benton
Denée Benton knows a thing or two about Glided Glamour. The Gilded Age star gave the theme a contemporary spin layering edgy Mimi So white diamond necklaces to go with her strapless pink and red gown.
