Kicking off awards season, the 2024 Golden Globes will give us our first taste of diamond-studded red carpets since the SAG-AFTRA strike came to a close in November. The 81st annual award’s ceremony will mark a return of pomp, circumstance, and dazzling diamond jewelry to the red carpet on Sunday, January 7.
The Golden Globe Awards has recognized the most notable achievements in film and television since its inception in 1944, honoring Tinseltown’s best and brightest both in front, and behind the cameras. The ceremony has been held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for over 50 years, calling upon Hollywood’s finest to flock to the red carpet in their finest jewels and fashions.
This year, Greta Gerwig’s ubiquitous blockbuster hit Barbie leads with 10 nominations, making it the second-most nominated film in Golden Globes history. Oppenheimer also gained an impressive number of nods, coming in second this year with 8 nominations. Killers of the Flower Moon, Anatomy of a Fall and Maestro all also received praise.
We’ll be keeping our eye out to see what kind of diamond jewels Best Actress nominees pluck from their jewelry boxes to wear to the event. Stylish leading ladies like Greta Lee (Past Lives), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Margot Robbie (Barbie), Jennifer Lawrence (No Hard Feelings), Emma Stone (Poor Things), Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), and Natalie Portman (May December), are sure to turn heads.
Hosted by comedian Jo Koy, the Golden Globes will air on Sunday, January 7 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
