Golden State Warriors Championship Ring Features 16 Carats of Yellow and White Diamonds

Professional sports are competitive by design, but it’s the quest to create the most spectacular and original Championship ring year-after-year that has truly become a sport for jewelry designer Jason Arasheben of Jason of Beverly Hills. For the Golden State Warriors’ 2021-2022 NBA Championship ring, the designer was up for the challenge.

“I’m always challenging myself and my team to push the limits of what they think jewelry can do,” Arasheben exclusively tells Only Natural Diamonds. This was especially true with his latest creation, which features 16 carats of yellow and white natural diamonds set into yellow gold to represent the team’s total playoff wins. “We did that with the secret compartment on this ring and I thought it was very clever how we were able to hide the lever in the design of the ring,” he explains. The secret compartment is a new feature never before seen on a Championship ring that unveils the trophies won by each individual player. The compartment is only accessible by twisting the lever on the side of the ring.

This year’s Championship ring for the Golden State Warriors is the first in history that primarily uses yellow diamonds honoring the team’s golden age—the period between 2015 and 2022 when they won the Championship four times in eight years. Stakes are high every time the Jason of Beverly Hills team craft a new Championship ring design, but the pressure was on to make a ring for the players that was bigger and better than ever before.

“Well to start, the overall size of the ring is bigger, Arasheben says when comparing the new design with the previous ring. “Gold was definitely a theme for the Warriors, for obvious reasons, so we had to find ways to incorporate more of it and we took it a step forward by creating a ring that is primarily yellow diamonds.”

Other standout features of the ring include:

• Architectural features of the Chase Center, the Warriors home arena, on the side of the ring.
• Seven carats of yellow cushion cut diamonds on the bezel represent the team’s seven Championship wins.
• 43 baguettes in the bridge represent Steph Curry’s 43-point performance in the finals.
• 0.91 carats of white diamonds on the inner bezel represent the teams 91% home winning percentage in the 2022 playoffs.
• NBA logo with 75 on the inside to celebrate the team’s 75th season as well as the NBA’s 75th anniversary season.
• “JUST US” written on the bottom which pays homage to the team’s mantra.

So just how long does it take Arasheben and his team to create a Championship ring? “I lost count. We spend hours brainstorming as a team, going back and forth with ownership, one off texts to players. It feels like days, months. In the past I’ve said over 100 hours, but it is more,” the designer says.

The design of the rings may change every season, but natural diamonds will always have a place on the Jason of Beverly Hills Championship ring designs. “These rings are one of a kind. Every piece of this ring is hand-selected. Hand-crafted,” Arasheben says. “Only natural diamonds will do. We don’t want anything that is artificially grown.”
