Which ‘Wicked’ enchantress will cast a spell on your natural diamond style?

In the story of Wicked, sisters Glinda and Elphaba embark on a journey through the Emerald City, navigating their mystical powers and sisterhood. The highly anticipated film adaptation of the book and beloved Broadway show is inspired by the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The upcoming film features Ariana Grande, who will play Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. The two have been in the spotlight promoting Wicked, decked out in natural diamonds.

Both Grande and Erivo are known jewelry lovers. Erivo won the 2024 Gem Award for Personal Style thanks to her powerful self-expression through jewelry over the years. She is also an ambassador for Muse Showroom’s “Have A Heart” charity initiative, the proceeds of which go towards The Loveland Foundation, supporting communities of color and Black women and girls.

Throughout their press tour, the duo have embodied their characters’ signature colors – Erivo in green and Grande in pink. At the 2024 Met Gala in May, the co-stars wore whimsical ensembles with an array of natural diamond jewelry. The two later appeared at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Erivo in Roberto Coin jewels and a Louis Vuitton emerald green ensemble, and Grande in a soft pink Thom Browne gown. Each, with their own distinctive style, has paved the way for major natural diamond jewelry inspiration. Are you a good witch or a bad witch? A pink witch or a green witch? Or maybe a bit of both? Discover which natural diamond jewels and which Wicked witch you best align with.

Glinda

Whimsical, bubbly, and bright, Glinda embodies the glittering aura of natural diamond jewelry, especially pieces with a pop of pink. Glinda’s style and personality have a soft yet bold side. To embrace her bold side, look to natural diamonds set in pink enamel, such as Boochier’s Fruit Hoop Bangle, Melissa Kaye’s Audrey Huggie Enamel Hoops, and a vintage diamond and pink enamel ring from 1st Dibs.

For a softer approach, Gigi Clozeau’s 10 Diamond Necklace in Blush and Sorellina’s Cupid’s Arrow Earrings offer the perfect balance of dainty and sparkle. Although you aren’t traveling through a pink floating bubble like Glinda, consider Tacit’s Diamond Bubble Letter Stud Earrings or Sophie Bille Brahe’s Ensemble Ocean Ring. Incorporate a bit of Glinda’s whimsy with Jewels by Grace’s Vintage Diamond Drop Earrings. For guidance and counsel, let Foundrae’s Internal Compass Medallion lead you in the right direction.

Elphaba

Elphaba is a passionate and strong-willed character who is often misunderstood. Despite being labeled “wicked” by society because of her green skin, she is not inherently evil. To capture her essence through natural diamonds, consider nature-inspired diamond jewels with touches of green and elements of dark glamour. The Wizard of Oz begins with a tornado, woven into Elphaba’s story in Wicked. Nikos Koulis’s Yellow Gold Long Earrings, while not tornadoes embody a swirling design that captures the enchanting movement and essence of transformation, reminiscent of the journeys of both Dorothy and Elphaba.

Although we don’t yet see how Elphaba’s story ends, every fairytale ends with the famous saying, “Happily Ever After…” which was been transformed into jewelry as the Happily Ever After Oval Charm by Heather B. Moore. As a nod to the hourglass in The Wizard of Oz, Stephanie Gottliebs’s Satchet pendant features natural diamonds that will never expire. Flying monkeys are a key element of Elphaba’s story, and this antique diamond monkey brooch from 1st Dibs pays homage to her companions. Channel Elphaba’s signature green in natural diamond jewels through Marie Lichtenberg’s Check emerald and diamond locket, Dries Criel’s Lotus ring, Selim Mouzannar’s Aida bracelet, and Yvonné Léon’s signet ring. To embrace Elphaba’s dark glamour, look to Bernard James’s Flora earrings, which feature a black diamond, or Sethi Couture’s Crescent diamond charm.
