Hollywood’s A-listers walked the red carpet in knockout natural diamond jewelry at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater last night. The most unforgettable looks of the evening featured stylish statement necklaces, dripping diamond earrings, and sparkling bold rings.
Charlize Theron proved that just one stylish diamond pendant can make an arresting statement. Her show-stopping Tiffany & Co. necklace featured a 21-carat, internally flawless, marquise-cut diamond drop. Created by nature deep below the earth’s surface one to three billion years ago, Theron channeled the power, rarity, and symbolism of diamonds for Hollywood’s biggest night. By opting for a low-cut gown and swept-up hairstyle, Theron highlighted the undeniable beauty of her necklace, valued at $5 million.
Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson styled her hair in an up-do, making sure the attention fell to her own statement piece, an elegant set of Forevermark x Anita Ko Exceptional Pear Diamond Drop Earrings set in white gold. The rest of her ensemble—which included 56 carats of natural diamonds—was valued at $2.5 million.
Creating a fun and playful moment of her own, Saoirse Ronan wore dangling diamond and colored gemstone Gucci earrings and a diamond-covered beetle hair-clip. Another one of hottest trends of the night was layered natural diamond jewels—because one is never enough. Zazie Beetz wore two Bulgari high jewelry necklaces set with more than 120 carats of diamonds and emeralds in all her jewels.
Janelle Monáe shined in several bright diamond rings by Forevermark, and Sandra Oh wore four chunky Pomellato Tango bracelets covered in cognac and white diamonds.
There was a fresh lineup of modern and sleek diamond jewels worn by chic young ingénues, like Little Women star, Florence Pugh, who rocked a Louis Vuitton diamond choker with an elegant drop to complement her turquoise Louis Vuitton gown. Another standout was Gal Gadot’s Tiffany & Co. natural diamond choker, which was dripping with over 65 carats of oval and round diamonds in a beautiful open composition. Twenty-three-year-old Kaitlyn Dever—the up-and-comer best known for her performance in the Olivia Wilde-directed movie, Booksmart—opted for a simple and sleek Harry Winston diamond lariat necklace and diamond-and-ruby cluster earrings.
Some of the other memorable jewels included Greta Gerwig’s Bulgari diamond-and-emerald necklace and Mindy Kaling’s Chopard necklace that was set with 78.46 carats of marquise-cut diamonds and 46.33 carats of round-shaped diamonds.
Chopard made several appearances on the red carpet: Geena Davis shined bright in diamond drop earrings, a bracelet with 36.30 carats of marquise-cut diamonds and 32.51 carats of round-shaped diamonds. Léa Seydoux wore elegant natural diamond swirl earrings from Chopard’s Precious Lace Collection with 12.82 carats of pear-shaped stunners.
It was also a big night for the house of Harry Winston, whose founder was the first to loan major gems to A-list celebrities for red carpet events, dating back to the 1940s. Idina Menzel wore Winston’s Cascading Necklace with 60.30 carats of pear, marquise, and round diamonds draping down the décolletage. Then, she changed into another, equally striking, natural diamond look for her on-stage performance. And Julia Louis-Dreyfus channeled old Hollywood in a slinky custom Vera Wang gown that perfectly paired with a 60-carat diamond collar necklace.
Chanel’s natural diamond-and-pearl earrings added an element of glamour to Margaret Qualley’s look, and Sigourney Weaver made a statement in Kwiat’s pear-shaped diamond earrings (12 carats each).
As the final and most influential Awards Show of the season, the 92nd Oscars proved that diamond jewelry, crafted by Mother Nature, is the perfect complement to the world’s most naturally gifted actors, creators, and artists.
