This Ring Featuring Over 24,000 Diamonds Just Set A New Guinness World Record

A new record has been set in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most diamonds set in one ring. India-based designer SWA Diamonds have created a mushroom-inspired masterpiece featuring 24,679 diamonds.

“The mushroom represents immortality and longevity,” SWA Diamonds Managing Director Abdul Gafur Anadiyan told GWR of the design. The piece is named “Ami,” meaning immortality in Sanskirt, a very apt name for a ring covered in diamonds, the Earth’s hardest, most impenetrable substance.

The piece is modeled specifically after the pink oyster mushroom, and it took the SWA Diamonds team three months just to complete the CAD. Liquid gold was poured into the 3D-printed mold and each of the natural diamonds on the ring were placed by hand onto the base and all 41 unique mushroom petals.

The Guinness World Record guidelines require the diamonds to be ethically sourced and Kimberly Process Certified. “A team of qualified independent diamond experts and jewellery experts then evaluated the ring at IGI, the International Gemological Institute Lab,” said Abdul Gafur Anadiyan.

The ring weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is valued at $95,243. The only question remains: What epic piece will break the record next??
